Exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first time exceeded 1 billion BAM in one month. This record and an important turning point for the domestic economy happened last month, that is, in September this year, BiznisInfo writes.
Export in September amounted 1,013,715,000 BAM. For comparison, in September last year, exports amounted 828 million.
This has continued a positive trend of export growth that B&H has recorded since the beginning of this year. This is the second record this year. In March, the amount was exceeded with 900 million, and now we have a billion BAM.
In total, for the first nine months of this year, exports amounted 8,095,000 BAM, which is 17.9 percent more than in the same period in 2016.
Imports for the nine months amounted 13.306 billion, which is 12.6 percent more than in the same period of the previous year. Import coverage by export was 60.8 percent, while the foreign trade deficit amounted 5.211 billion.
Although imports continue to grow and the commodity deficit remains high, strong export growth is certainly an encouraging fact for the domestic economy.
