As the cold days arrive, Tuzla Canton is preparing to welcome tourists eager for snowy joys, winter activities and a positive holiday spirit. The Karaula Ski Center near Kladanj and the event “Winter in Tuzla” in the center of the city bring joy for winter activities lovers.
Although the Tuzla Canton is not among the leading ski destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Karaula Ski Center near Kladanj is rapidly emerging as a real oasis of nature. Located at the foot of the mountain and surrounded by dense forests, Karaula offers a calm and authentic atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of typical, large ski resorts. Here, visitors can enjoy clean air, stunning scenery and a serene environment, making it an ideal choice for nature lovers and all those looking for an escape from the hectic pace.
Only 45 kilometers from Tuzla, it attracts fans of skiing, sledding and recreational activities in nature every year. With its 1,700 meters of gently sloping track and a modern ski lift with a capacity of 1,200 skiers per hour, the Karaula Ski Center is suitable for beginners and those with a little more experience. In addition to recreation and entertainment, visitors can enjoy a restaurant with a rich selection of food and drinks and relax and take a walk in a beautiful natural environment in the clean mountain air of Mount Konjuh.
A special experience is represented by attractive mountain tours such as Javorje, Konjuh, Ždrijepčev skok, Konjušić, Krabanjski krš, Papala, Jaračko brdo, Bratilo and Veliki Zelenboj. A mountain lodge was built in the area of Javorje, which provides rest and shelter for hikers. Mountaineering association “Miljkovac” from Kladanj, with its mountain lodge at Obli Vrh, is dedicated to preserving the tradition of mountaineering, in agreement with tourists it organizes guided tours through these beautiful areas of Kladanj Municipality.
– Everything is ready for winter joys in Konjuh – said Dragana Čaušević, director of the Public Enterprise “Karaula” Kladanj, which manages the ski resort in Kladanj, adding that this year they expect an even greater number of visitors, while prices will remain unchanged compared to last season.
By maintaining stable prices, the Karaula Ski Center continues to attract both local and foreign guests, for whom the hotels Bosna and Muška voda, Motel Amerika and the tourist camp “Srce Konjuha” are available for accommodation, located in the beautiful natural surroundings of Mount Konjuh.
This winter, the Panonnica City Skating Rink is turning 18. It has been providing winter magic in the heart of Tuzla for 18 consecutive seasons. On an area of 600 square meters, the rink can accommodate more than 100 skaters per term. A special attraction is the 60 square meter children’s ice rink, open since 2019 and a great place for little ones and beginners to take their first steps on the ice, while for real adventurers there is an Ice Slide – 30 meters of ice fun in specially designed rubber mattresses.
Both ice areas are covered with protection from rain and snow, and their charm entices visitors from the end of November to the end of January, and with favorable weather conditions sometimes even until February.
The Panonnica ice rink is not only an ice rink, but also a winter entertainment center where events such as masquerade balls, Ice DJ discos, kids day and prize games are held, which bring this space to life, creating joyful memories for all generations. During the break, there is a restaurant with hot drinks and a gastronomic offer, where skaters can warm up and enjoy the winter atmosphere.
On the other hand, the city of Tuzla itself offers a magical holiday experience through the traditional event “Winter in Tuzla”, which will be held from 13 December 2024 to 8 January 2025. The city will shine in festive attire, while Trg slobode will become the center of winter joys, with wooden houses that offer a variety of gastronomic pleasures, a rich music program and carefully selected contents for all generations.
– The winter season in Tuzla will again this year be rich in content that will create an atmosphere of joy during the holidays, ensuring that visitors enjoy a variety of programs for all ages. As many as 20 concerts are planned during the 27 days of the manifestation – said Amra Jaganjac, director of the Tourist Association of the City of Tuzla.
The highlight of the event will be the New Year’s concert of the legendary group Crvena jabuka, which will introduce the people of Tuzla and their guests into the year 2025 with their timeless hits. In addition to Crvena jabuka, the atmosphere on Trg slobode will be warmed by bands such as Rock ko fol and TNT.
– I believe that the performers will satisfy all tastes of the audience this year as well. We will give an opportunity to our Tuzla ensembles, but also host renowned performers from the region – Jaganjac pointed out.
She also announced the traditional celebration of the Children’s New Year on December 31 at noon, when the youngest visitors will be entertained by snowmobiles, bringing joy and festive spirit to all the little ones.
